Once again our thanks go out to the many volunteers who help clean up the litter on Chesil and the Fleet.

Most recently the local wildfowlers and the Dorset Countryside Volunteers have both carried out litter picks on the Reserve, clearing over 30 bags of litter and a variety of larger items including; wheels, tyres and fishing buoys.

Another litter pick was carried out by the Dorset Conservation Volunteers, who managed to fill 20 bags from Abbotsbury beach as follows: 11 black bags for landfill, 4 bags of glass bottles, 5 bags of mixed recycling (plastic bottles, tin cans, cardboard). A few larger items such as large containers/cans and a tent frame were collected.

The cafe at Abbotsbury now also has a 2minute beach clean station sponsored by DCV. This has been very well received by visitors and locals and has already been very well used. CBFNR has also installed a fishing line bin to specifically tackle the hazardous fishing line waste.
