This delightful Pied Wagtail nest was found in one of our hides, below one of the window shutters. The Pied Wagtail is a resident UK bird and is commonly seen dashing (walking/running) in a variety of different habitats, and is quite a common sight in our urban areas too. Wagtails, as their name suggests, ‘wag’ their tail up and down when standing still and can also be identified by their characteristic undulated flight. The videos below show an adult coming back to the nest (to well developed chicks) and feeding them on a variety of insects whilst taking any faecal sacs away to keep the nest clean and tidy.
(Please note: a remote camera was used for these videos).
