Beached fish

Winds, falling tides and shallow waters are often the cause of a variety of marine life being washed up on many beaches from time to time. At the end of July, on Chesil at Abbotsbury, a considerable quantity of what is believed to have been sprats were beached on the pebbles. This was no unfortunate accident however. These fish, part of a huge shoal, were driven on shore by an equally if not bigger shoal of mackerel eager to devour them.
