The Environment Agency and Natural England undertook a fish survey in the Fleet last week. Fish were caught by seine netting at Chickerell Hive, Langton Hive and Clouds Hill. Nine fish species were recorded, the most abundant being three-spined sticklebacks and sand smelt. Golden grey mullet, deep snouted pipefish (pictured) gobies, bass, flounder, black bream and gilthead bream were also caught. SIFCA are planning to survey two sites near the lagoon entrance at the end of the month and it is hoped that the survey will be repeated at all sites in the autumn.
